Friday 17th of April ResQ’s business unit for Risk Management hosted a breakfast seminar on investigation in the Norwegian petroleum industry. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss roles and responsibilities of the different participants in investigation of accidents offshore.
Åslaug Høgemark, Section head at the department for North Sea and Environment at the Rogaland Police district, presented the Police’s role in investigations offshore and how these are conducted. She explained, amongst others, what expectations the Police have towards the oil industry’s participants during investigations.
We were very satisfied with the turn out and the fruitful dialogue and discussions during the seminar, says Roger Litlatun, Investigation Services Lead in ResQ. He explains that it was obvious from the engagement and discussions that the topic was relevant for the participants. We learned, amongst others, that we need to lower the threshold when to notify the Police.
We believe sharing of information and experiences is necessary to improve HSE performance, says head of Risk Management in ResQ, Heino Blanckaert. And based on the positive feedback from participants in this seminar and the seminar on emergency preparedness in February we have decided to plan for new seminars on relevant topics later this year, Blanckaert adds.
ResQ’s investigation services has resources available for clients on short notice to lead or participate in investigations. We also provide courses in investigation
of incidents and advanced training for investigations leaders.
