The oil industry is a global powerhouse with hundreds of thousands of workers around the world, creating hundreds of billions globally each year. In the future activity on the Norwegian continental shelf will be central to the Norwegian economy, thanks to large remaining resources and new significant development projects such as Johan Sverdrup.
When working offshore it is very important that everyone has the required qualifications. All workers in the offshore industry must regularly go through the necessary new and refresher courses to stay certified and be able to continue working offshore. Several of the courses are compulsory and a high priority to maintain the safety of those who are on standby.
